Top 5 Basics for Fall

It’s finally time to jump into fall fashion! I don’t know about you, but fall fashion is definitely my absolute FAVORITE! I am pretty sure that my fall/winter clothing triples the amount of spring summer clothes that I have. For me it has to do with the colors, and the styles of the clothing! I am more of a fall gal because I have red hair, so all fall color really do compliment my hair color, pastels…..not so much. Not to mention I always love to be cozy. It is so important for me to be comfortable, and sometimes summer fashion just doesn’t cut it. Give me a chunky sweater, a huge pair of boots, and a statement jacket and I will rock it until at LEAST March. I just can’t help myself.

I have compiled a list of 5 basics that can basically be paired to compliment any fall outfit and can be versatile, and worn in multiple different ways. Not too mention, these are all affordable options! One of the important keys to remember in fall fashion, is that you can have a really basic outfit and then layer it with a statement piece, like a leopard print coat, or an embellished denim jacket. These basics would be perfect on top of or under a statement piece. Don’t forget another big piece to this puzzle is to learn how to layer your clothing. Adding dimension to your outfit can add so much life and character, and can make it really pop!

1. Basic T-shirts and Tanks

T-shirts and tanks are important when it comes to wearing them under cardigans and chunky sweaters. These are extremely easy to come by and you can find them almost anywhere. I would suggest buying a few in different colors. I specifically have them in black, grey, white, and navy. I am also planning on buying a few in red, orange, and possibly a plum color. It is helpful to get these in multiple colors to really add a touch of color to any look that you feel needs a little life. When it comes to tanks, I lean more towards the loose tanks, because it is much more comfortable to me, but that is a personal preference. My favorite basic shirts come from Target of course! Here is the link below:

2. Denim

This is pretty much a staple in everyone’s wardrobe, but it is an absolute must for fall! I prefer to have dark wash denim and a black pair as well and my favorite jeans are from American Eagle. They are perfect for all of your sweaters, flannel shirts, and even denim jackets. We love a denim on denim look! Here are some links to my top picks below.

3. Distressed Denim Jacket’s

A denim jacket should always be a staple in everyone’s wardrobe, but a distressed denim jacket is a must for fall. These jackets look fab with a t-shirt for football games, a flannel, or even a cute crop top for a night out on the town. There are so many great ways to wear this piece and it is well worth it to add to your wardrobe.

4. Chunky Cardigans(duh)

These are of course a must! This is the main staple of most of my fall outfits, because they can be worn in many different ways. They can be worn over a basic tee, a flannel, a dress with tights, a loose blouse, or any other way you think is necessary! I think they add the perfect pop to any outfit, and remember it is important to layer, and these make it so easy! I personally love a bell sleeve, or a larger sleeve and more of a slouchy fit, but I have listed a few options below.

5. Boots

It is important to have multiple different sizes and lengths when thinking about the perfect boots for fall, but one staple that I feel can make any outfit, would be ankle boots, because they are so transitional. If it is still a little warm outside, these boots are perfect to help sneak a little bit of fall into every outfit. My best advice when buying boots is to always make sure you aren’t buying all of the same color. Make sure you switch it up between black and brown tones, and if you really want to being the heat, I would heavily suggest bringing a pair of leopard boots into your wardrobe as they are HUGE for this fall. My favorite place to buy boots is definitely Target. They have a fab selection and are also great quality.
